January 2015 – Collective Haul, ipsy and Birchbox

Good morning, wonderful people <3

This week has been a pretty good week so far! I got my ipsy and Birchbox yesterday! I think both of them are tie this month because I love a few things in each box. AND by the end of the week, I’ll be getting my January Boxycharm and my PopSugar + Target Must Have box :) SO ALL IS GOOD IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!

If you’d like to see what I got in my ipsy and Birchbox, head on over here!

I also did some minor shopping over the weekend! I bought some stuff from the semi-annual sale that’s happening at Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works. I also received my Jaclyn Hill Favorites palette in the mail last week.

If you’d like to see them, head on over here!

People have been breaking the internet for this palette, and so many people have been on their computer all night and all day long.. I am so thankful that I got mine in the mail today :)

I live in Southern California and I had sent this to my work, which is only a city away from the Morphe Brushes original store in Burbank. I think that’s the only reason why I got it in the mail so quickly.

I heard about Jaclyn Hill from my sister; she’s been a loyal follower of her on YouTube and I’m sure she buys makeup products that Jaclyn recommends, uses and vouches. I originally was planning to get this for her because I know she would be working on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and wouldn’t have the time to order. I tried a few times in the morning of January 1st and had no luck in connecting to their website. Then I waited until before I went to sleep to order and it took me about 40 minutes using Firefox as everyone else on the internet suggested that night. My order went through, confirmed and shipped all within a little bit more than a week.

My sister actually also had the time to order this for some reasons.. So I think I’m going to keep this one for myself :)

For everyone who’s still waiting on their order, I’m sure it’ll get to your home soon! I feel like if you live closer (aka in California), your order will ship earlier than January 23rd.. :D

December 2014 – ipsy, Julep Maven and Beauty Blender Review

I am so excited that my ipsy, Julep Maven and Beauty Blender finally GOT HERE! It’s only been here for a few days but I’ve pretty much tried everything.. I’m going to do a mini review of the stuff that I’ve got and I’ve tried. Keep reading if you’d like to know :)

This is how my Julep Maven box looks like when it arrived!

Julep Maven Welcome Box December 2014

Monthly: $24.99 with free shipping

3 nail polishes in (top to bottom): Ava, Logan and Lupita

Sugar Plum Eye Liner

Top to bottom: Ava, Logan and Lupita

Julep has a promotion that if you sign up to be a Maven, your first box is free! I only had to pay for shipping which is only $2.99, and I got 3 polishes plus a dark purple eye liner. I heard you usually are able to choose what colors of polish and which product you’ll get in your box. But since it is my “welcome box,” I didn’t get to choose my items. For me, the color selection was just okay.

Hopefully I get to choose my colors next time! They also sent me an email to sign up so they can throw in a top coat for me next month. Overall, the box came on time and they were prompt with the tracking code e-mail.

You know good stuff is in this pink bag!

ipsy Thinking About You December 2014 Glam Bag

Monthly: $10.00 with tax for California = $10.90

4-5 sample size to deluxe sample size products

Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blow Dry | Nourish Organic Eye Cream

Nyx Cosmetic Butter Lip Balm | Crown Brush Eye and Crease Duet Brush

Tarte Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara

Thinking About You is the theme of the month, and I'm an inspiring original..

The ipsy bag is probably the most anticipated one for me! I’ve been tracking it down like almost every day since ipsy posted on Instagram that they’re shipping the bags for this month. I think the item I love the most is the Tarte mascara and the Crown Brush duet brush. The Nyx Butter Lip Balm is pretty good, but this is kind of like Chapstick, EOS and Baby Lips combination. It is tinted and the shade I get is called Red Velvet. The tint stayed on pretty well on my lips.

The Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blow Dry I might use maybe for special occasion when I blow dry my hair and the eye cream I’ll try every night ;)

This thing is amazing!

Beauty Blender Review

2 pack with the cleanser

Amazon for $32.34 now; it was $35.46 when I got it

Left is when it's dry and right is after it's damp

I am actually beyond impressed with these! I just couldn’t believe that these Beauty Blender can grow so much after you damp them. I might need to play around with these because when I tried it for the first time it didn’t really blend well. But overall, I am very happy :)

Very happy December for me..

December 2014 – Mini Sephora Spree

Mini Sephora Spree

My sister is a VIB now at Sephora and we went to the mall to use one of her coupons. I got the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown and Benefit the Pore-fessional. I was watching Ingrid Nielsen‘s videos on the ipsy YouTube channel and saw her using both of these products. It looks super easy to learn and use so I wanted to give it a try.

The Brow Wiz is $21 and the Pore-fessional trial size is $10. The regular size is $30, but I thought the small one would last me a while.

If you’ve tried these products before and loved it, let me know! If you’re trying them on too, let’s try it together and let me know how you do! :)

Below is the videos of Ingrid using both of these products..

November 2014 – Subscribe to Beauty Boxes

This is so embarrassing, but I recently subscribed to three beauty box monthly subscription services: Birchbox, ipsy and Boxycharm! I have no idea where it got started, but I think my sisters daily complain of how I should take care of myself finally hit me. I even shopped beauty products from Nordstrom during Black Friday.

Anyways.. I’m pretty excited because the monthly charge for two (Birchbox and ipsy) is $10/month with $1.00 tax for ipsy and $21/month for Boxycharm.

Birchbox and ipsy are pretty similar in products. You get about 4-5 sample and deluxe sample products each month. While Boxycharm gives 4-5 full size and deluxe sample products. I’ve been obsessing over YouTube videos, Instagram and Twitter to see which of these services give you the bang for the buck! I decided to try three and let’s see which one is worth it.

I’m going to try to update on some of the products I will receive here! If I got something interesting, I’ll probably post it here as well.

UPDATE — Julep (the nail polish brand) also has subscription for their nail polishes and other beauty stuff. They’re offering FREE BOX for your first box (only pay shipping for $2.99). You can always skip each month or give it away to a friend, after your first paid box. Click here to join!

November 2014 – Subscription Boxes! – if you still need convincing…..

Who wouldn’t love getting stuff in a box every month?! I would LOVE that so much! It’s like birthday and Christmas every month. I think December is a great month to start these subscription boxes because it’s the holidays and these boxes are putting their best products out!

I haven’t received any of my boxes yet, but wanted to share my link if you guys are planning to do so. Birchbox and ipsy are only $10/month. I’ve heard 50-50 reviews about them, but we’ll see how they are next year. Boxycharm is kind of expensive at $21/month. But their products are mostly deluxe version, if not full size.

And then I started Julep Maven (mainly nail polish with some beauty products) because they’re giving you a free box for your first one, only pay shipping of $2.99. Regularly it is $24.99 and you can choose which polishes you want in your box. If you don’t feel like getting a box, you can either skip or give it to a friend.

Here are some of the videos that convince me to get some of these subscriptions! :)
